IGNOU setting up a cell to provide training to in-service teachers on disability issues
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is setting up a cell to provide training to in-service teachers on disability issues. As per sources, the cell will be located at the university campus. An official from IGNOU told the sources that under this mission, IGNOU’s National Centre for Disability Studies (NCDS) strives at training over 10000 teachers.
Moreover, sources informed that the cell would provide training under a new programme called as Foundation Course on Education of Children with Disabilities (FCED). The programme is being offered under distance learning mode. Duration of the programme is three months, sources added. Furthermore, sources told that the programme will provide hands on practical training and exposure apart from theoretical input.
In addition, sources informed that the purpose will be served through IGNOU’s over 100 special study centers, which are recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India in each state.
