The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) along with the Indira Gandhi National Open University ( IGNOU) launched an online training programme to sensitise police personnel on human rights.

‘Going by the number of complaints received in the commission, sometimes it feels that the police is growing insensitive,’ NHRC member P.C. Sharma said.

‘They need to change their attitude towards women, children, Dalits and helpless people,’ he added.

According to an NHRC official, keeping in view the tight schedule of the police personnel, the five-day-long tailor made programme aims to equip them with the knowledge of human rights and it can be applied while dealing with the public.
