IGNOU courses now available to Army personal
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a satellite link with Leh in collaboration with Army on Friday. This satellite education centre is meant to facilitate distance education in remote areas to its personnel
IGNOU has also said that it has set up of an Information Technology Academy, jointly with Microsoft India. Army Chief General V K Singh inaugurated the IGNOU satellite link with a military base in Leh.
This facility is part of the university and the Army’s joint project Gyandeep. He said that the project will be implemented soon in other parts of the country.
The IT Academy, part of the Army-Microsoft’s ‘Kshamta’ project, would train Army personnel in IT courses for the skills to find an alternative post-career retirement.
