IGNOU Papers : IGNOU start a study centre in Karnal Jail

With the aim to provide education to prisoners, Haryana Government has started a special study centre at Karnal with the collaboration of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). District Session Judge, Karnal, Vinod Jain inaugurated the special study centre.

Regional Centre Director, IGNOU Ashok Sharma said that the state government has taken an exemplary initiative to provide education to the prisoners in the jails of the state and the IGNOU would put together all efforts so that maximum number of prisoners could be educated.

According to Jail Superintendent, Jagjit Singh, this jail becomes the first jail of the state in which education would be provided to the prisoners. He said that any prisoner who have attain the age of  eighteen years could take admission in bachelor degree program after doing the six month bachelor preparatory program of the IGNOU.
