IGNOU to launch human rights course for cops
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) along with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) will soon launch sensitisation programmes in human rights for policemen, vice chancellor V.N. Rajsekharan Pillai.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the IGNOU and the NHRC for launching the programmes at three levels – basic course for constables/sub-inspectors, advanced course for middle level police officers, and training of trainers.
The first training programme will be launched for police constables at the Haryana Police Academy in Madhuban.
The programmes will be offered in both distance education and online modes, followed by interactive workshops.
The NHRC will help in the development of the courses in the initial period in the form of resource support and funding the development of course materials, its printing, development of audio-visual materials and video lectures.
