QUT join hands with IGNOU to train elementary teachers
An Australian university joined hands with the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) here to train elementary teachers in rural India and to help the country attain universal primary education.
Australian deputy prime minister Julia Gillard on Tuesday launched three ICT programmes at Ignou. The programmes are being developed in collaboration with the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
The international initiative brings together Ignou and QUT to offer ICT-enabled diploma in primary education (DPE), dual-doctoral programme for research and teaching assistant and an online programme in master of intellectual property law.
According to the partnership, the students will take admission in Ignou for the courses developed in collaboration with the QUT. After completion a part of the courses at Ignou, the rest of the course will be completed at QUT. The students will get dual degrees one each from both the universities.
