IGNOU launches Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in distance mode
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME) under its distance learning programme, paving the way for ITI (Industrial Training Institute) students to go up the academic ladder.
The programme is the first of its kind in the 17 central, western and southern districts that come under the jurisdiction of IGNOU’s Madurai Regional Centre. The university has chosen Seshasayee Institute of Technology (SIT) as the study centre for this three-year programme.
The classes have been planned during weekends, but the practical sessions will be conducted for continuous days on a periodic basis, according to M. Shanmugam, Regional Director of IGNOU’s Madurai Regional Centre. The programme would be offered under modular pattern; academically oriented candidates will be able to pursue undergraduation, postgraduation and doctorate in engineering, he said.

My brother want to Join Diploma in Mechenical in DLM mode. but he have 54.58 % in SSC. we are inquired in our local IGNOU centre they told he can’t join this course because he do not have sufficient for addmission. My brothe also passed B. Com and ITI in Lab assistant chemical plant. So please guide us about it.
